Millinery and Hatting

I have come to have an intense love for making hats, the problem solving and detail work is right up my alley. Not to mention, who doesn't get excited about a beautiful hat.

A take on an 18th American bonnet made with white buckram, then covered in cloth, silk ribbon, and lace that I made by hand.

These are two ceremonial mayors hats that I made whilst I was working in London. Irecreated the gold braid myself to reflect the original on previous hats that we had been given as examples from Henry Poole, the oldest tailoring company on Savile Row.

I got to help make hats for the new West End production of Shakespeare in Love. I drafted and altered the pattern before putting the this cap together for the nurse.

Made several hats for the World Premiere of Ever After at Papermill Play House, with the fabulous Jess Goldstein as our costume designer.

I made several hats and headpieces for Paper Mill Playhouse's production of Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, designed by Leon Dobkowski. Above is one of my favorites, an African-inspired head wrap for the character Cassandra.

For Madonna's Rebel Heart Tour I got to be a key stitcher in their sample shop, getting to help create some amazing costumes. Including, among other things, some of my turbans. Please pardon the poor picture quality.

While working with Jane Smith I made hats for the Order of the Thistle to be used in a ceremony in Scotland. I later found out that the hat I made was for her Royal Majesty Queen Elizabeth the II. To say it was an honour to know were my hat ended up is an understatement.

I have also havehad the privilege to work on hats for, Monty Pythons Reunion Tour 2014, the BBC, The Globe Theatre, and Disney.
